Has anyone located a new manufacturer or supplier who is now making the front panel for series. 2 front wings. I am in the process of completing restoration of series. 2 but made the mistake of cutting the old damaged and dented panel out as I didn't realise these were no longer made.?????? Actually need the n/s one but haven't found anyone so far
Thanks

I believe that the 2A is the same wing as the 3, but it's a long time since I did one.

However the 2 doesn't have the headlight holes in it and is fairly easy to fabricate if you are any good at tin bashing :D

Hens teeth / rocking horse **** comes to mind, if you find some let me know. I bought a set of S2 wings just for the front panels.

Thanks for the suggestions looks like I will try my luck on eBay but given the prices I reckon it's just a matter of time before someone starts to makes these hopefully and at a reasonable price.

Okay then, i'm gunna take a set of late 2A wings to a friend who does sheet fabrication, and see how much it'll cost for then to be made without the hole and recess for the headlamp and ind/side lights. Can anybody out there give me some measurements for the 2/2a sidelight and indicator holes?

I don't think I have ever seen a template or dimensioned drawing. I think it would be easiest for a fabricator to work from an original panel to ensure the curves and angles of the return lip are folded to achieve the correct fitting and penny gap. This can then be test fitted against the outer and inner wing skin. Whilst the holes for the the side and indicator lenses can be drilled easily enough for the later series 2a the indicators are shaped slightly which I imagine would be more difficult to press. I am pretty sure the side light on all panels sits flush on the wing front. I don't have access to my current resto project to the weekend but could could try and get a dimension sorted then from a cut and damaged skin. I think once set up if they can get a good match there could definitely be a market.

A pair of NOS one with slight damage just sold on ebay for £155, didn't mention it before as i was bidding, but not unto any where near £155.

That's just the point because rubbish wings on eBay are fetching on occasions stupid prices, you think there must be a market for someone who can fabricate new ones to a good standard and yet sell them for a sensible price and certainly less than the cost of series 3 or outside skins. I guess that's supply and demand .

You sure about that ?

They are clearly advertised in pairs, and folks on the S2 forum have bought them in the past; have you tried to buy some since, are they no longer selling them? The only gripe was they only had the sidelight hole.

about to email them now, the early ones only had one light hole I think, the ones that sold on ebay the other day for £155 only had the one.

Aye, before 1960/61 series 2s did not need any indicators fitted and as such only had one hole for the sidelight.
