Brand new to the forum. Been driving a Landrover Defender 110 in the Highlands whenever there's more than a few inches of snow (often) as it's the only thing that gets us out. However, this morning tried to start up and am getting a vibrating noise from the key and nothing is grabbing. Any suggestions? Remember my Dad used to hit his starter motor but don't know where it is. Appreciate any suggestions.

i cant believe you dont where it is ......... you must some mechanical skills like checking the water level and oil levels , i would suggest you need to do as above oh and carry a fooking big hammer when you find it

Think it's left hand side of engine. Don't think YOU should be hitting it if you can't find by yourself.

personaly i don't think he should be allowed to use a hammer or anything sharp at all, now ****taking asside if you look at your battery ,its that great big thing under the bonnet, it should have at least two cables attached to it' if you follow the cable from the PLUS sighn on the battery all the way down it will bring you to where the starter motos is attached,. hope this is of help:doh::doh::doh:OH! I GIVE UP!

The problem is your battery not the starter. It is kaput and isn't providing enough power.

Its the thing you put the key in. Cuz when you turn the key it starts.

Everyone knows thats the starter motor ;-)
