can anyone give me an idea what mine are worth so if i need to sell them to get a set of 16 to 18 i have just put some pic in my album
thanks again.

get rr wheels. later disco wheels fit but proper rr wheels look best

But you will need spiggott rings and probably the wheel nuts from the later Rangey (l322). I think this applies to D2 wheels too.

The spiggott rings are required because the hub sizes are slightly larger on the L322 allowing the wheels to move around causing vibration. They just sit on the hub and take up any movement. The P38 needs a snug fit on the hubs.

You will need the later wheel nuts because the standard P38 ones are right big buggrz and they're a bit more elegant on the later ones. You may have these already though. Ebay is apparently a good source for these.

Third point is tyre choice. P38s are a bit fussy about tyres, especially on the larger wheel sizes (18 inch upwards). Be worth doing a scan through this forum for tyre advice.

Thanks for that Guy will start looking see if i can find a swap for some
i was told today 16's are better than 18's

Better in what way? They might be less fussy about tyres - It's personal choice, but I think 18 inch wheels suit the look of the car better. I've got 18s.

With the right tyres 18 inch are great on and off road too. I've got General Grabber AT2 on mine and have had no probs.

I think its like you say there is more tyre's to choose from at the momment i would be glad of any thing the wheels i have on there as nice as they are just don't work the truck is slow it shake's at 30 40 mph and don't work in the snow it is just like driving a 2 wheel drive car i got stuck today in the snow just kept sliding sideways usless it was i had to get the shovel out and move the snow from around the wheels i also have a noise coming from ether the trans box, diffs , or gear box and i think these wheels have coursed strain on one of them. funds are tite at the momment and can't really aford new ones im only a nurse and were not paid a great deal im thinking now about taking it off the road untill i can get some or even p/x for a deffender :(

Big low profile wheels on a Rangie aren't the most comfortable ride and in your neck of the woods, they must be a nightmare on snow and slush. I think the best wheels for drive quality for the P38 are 18" - there are a few styles around, Mondials I think look better than Hurricanes, but aren't that easy to find, also Disco 2 wheels fit AFAIK and X5 (the E53 models) fit as well. P38 Rangies are fussy about tyres, many prefer Pirelli Scorpions, but there are people on the forum happy with other makes. If you live in a rural area of Wales you may want to get some winter tyres as well and swop around from Dec - April, although the Rangie will manage ok, from experience, on Pirelli Scorpions. The winter tyres just give added rip and abaility on icy / wet/ snowy roads. The Rangie is a much more comfortable ride than a Defender - I reckon you should find some decent wheels, sell the big 'uns to one of the dozens who want them, and keep the Rangie! You could use 16" RR wheels (from early P38s) and they are usually available really cheap but the P38 looks well balanced on 18" wheels.

Yeah, as Rangiegal says above I think the Mondial 18's are the best looking wheel. I've got 16" Stratos's on mine which are perfect for me as I spend a lot of time on forest tracks and the extra side wall is worth it but it does look under wheeled. I often cast jealous eyes at the few going around on Mondials.

I was tempted to rob P38_Irelands ones during the week but he didn't turn his back long enough :D :D
