Guy at the garage said not to buy 'these units that they sell on Ebay' - more trouble than they are worth saving money for?

It ain't broke, don't fix it!

you'll have plenty of other stuff to spend your hard earned on soon enough.....

After all it is a gaylander :p

Probably because he is 'the guy at the garage'..but if he was suggesting you leave the engine alone, i'd agree with him. The TD4 is actually not too bad as it is..why do you want more power/torque anyway?

only get it from a legitimate company like tunit etc....and don't get there snake oil products like magnets for the fuel line, intake 'superchargers' that are nothing more and an axial fan etc

whats the betting the hoss box is over 2 tonnes MAM the one i worked on was for a horse and pony was rated at 2600kg and it wasn't massive

Would have to agree..sisters got a double one and the horses must be a ton, ones a hacker the others a racer so it crabs down the road a bit lol!

see loads of gaylanders / honda crv's etc dragging horse boxes down to the beach and not one of them is legally allowed to do it

Maximum towable by a Freelander is 2000 kg.
As said before I have 225/55/17 on mine with no problems going up a very high Spanish kirb into my garage several times a day, much easier than my Zafira it was on 17,s. I just had to put 2 new front tyres on that because of this problem but they were a much lower profile tyre.
I have been off roading at the weekend along a river bed in the Freelander for 5 miles with no problems noticed off road, I just took it slow. Some very big ruts as well cut out by the water plus big rocks to deal with. If I do go more seriously off road I think I will get some 15" steels with big knobbly tyres.

I don't own a horsebox - just borrow one when I need it, an Ifor 505 with one horse. I think the Ifor is about 1200kg plus horse and associated junk makes it below 2000kg I reckon so always thought it would be ok - would never take 2 horses with it though

Rover-ron Tuning modules have always been popular and give that extra low down torque that helps you get off a decent start. ;)
