On my old dicovery 1 the front wheels (same on both sides) starting locking up if I turn the steering wheel to full lock in either direction. Drives normally other than this except for a knocking noise and slight vibration. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this ?

adjest your steering locks !!

It could be the CV joints. Do you get a clunking on partial steering lock?

Yep there's definitely a clunking noise.

Check your wheel bearings and cv joints. Do it soon because it's only a matter of time before you get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
