Ok I'm off to buy a wheelbrace for the Disco soon.. a spider one.. what sizes will it need to have on it for doing both alloy AND steel wheels..?

They must be available, my local tyre centre uses them.. so are the nuts for alloy wheels the same size as the ones for steel wheels then..?

Yes they do, I've recently had new tyres fitted and not an air gun in sight.
After seeing how quick the nuts can be spun off I thought I must get one.
I purchased a Seeley item via eBay, it has the option on one of the arms of fitting your own 1/2 inch socket so I purchased a nice 27mm again from a supplier on eBay, I'll only use it once a year maybe so will last a lifetime :D

I don't have steels so can't help with that.

I also use a 27mm socket with a torque wrench, but the alloy caps on the wheel nuts can swell up and a 27 wont fit them so whatever you go for check that it fits all the wheel nuts before you go anywhere lol
 
yeah those 1/2 drives on them are a good idea. hots off to the fella that thought of that
