Afternoon all,

I've just bought my first Landy (a 1986 '90' with a 300 TDi conversion, plus a fair bit off off roading gear).
I hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere on this forum - but here's my dilemma:
I'd like to change the tyres, as the ones that are on it at the moment are pretty much for road use only - they are 235/85 r16.
Can i go for a 265/75 r16 without any problems?
How can i tell the width of my rims, and whether the tyres below will fit?
These are the tyres i'm considering - anyone have any experience of them?

What tyres can I fit on my.......? Is the most common question asked. If you do a quick search you may just find the info you require.:doh:

When you say you want to fit Insa's, What pattern are you wanting to fit?

I run Insa Turbo special tracks 265/75/16. Great off road but noisey as hell on road. What are you gonna be using the vehicle for? Have you taken it offroad yet? It may be worth going off road and then deciding what best suits you.

I'm looking at the Dakar tyres- it's going to be used as a shoot vehicle, plus a bit of towing horseboxes, plus a bit of fun off roading - nothing too serious......yet......
I've only had it a couple of days and i feckin love it already!

yes, 275/75/16 is the largest you can go without mods. After that you gotta have Ratty or Si on board.
 
i am looking for a set of 265/75-16 or 255/85-16 rims and tyres - they looked pretty good - unless you know better ? ;)
 
I dint say i could afford em - did I - swap yu my Camac Terras (5) for yours ;). It is just that I thought they seemed to have a pretty aggressive sidewall pattern - good for getting out of ruts?
 
in the process of fitting some tall 900x16 tyres to my 90 about 36.5/37 inch tyres. The fronts are spot on needs a couple of mm more offset to keep full lock but not silly ammounts. The back is a different matter. Will fit 1 inch spacers to the front anyhow and 2 inch ones to the rear. (spring spacers not wheel spacers) I really dont want to cut my wheel spats. Then ill have to extend the rear bump stops enough to limit any rubbing on the tub then I think drop the shock mounts down half the ammount of the extended bump stops as I dont want much articulation at the rear keep the propshaft from binding up on full articulation. Mabe fit axle straps in an attempt to save the shocks I dunno yet. May have to get wide angled props but would rather not. Would prefer to not fit spacers and limit articulation but what ever I do it will require a momentus ammounts of jacking up and testing before any road trips let alone any off roading trips are planned. Jai
