I have on 04 plate TD4 S with original 16 inch wheels.
Makes a noise though whilst reversing on full lock as if the tyres are making contact with body. On inspection this does not seem to be the case, any thoughts?
I would like to fit bigger diameter rims but not sure whether it will accomodate.
Does anyone have bigger rims fitted?

hi there i just bought an 04 facelift thats fitted with 17's runs 225/55 allweathers looks cool to :)

I got them on the car but they seem to be standard fitment on the xei facelift from what the owners book is telling me

The noise could be- and this is with all Freelanders- the viscous coupling causes drag on the drive train when reversing on full lock, and may sound like tyres rubbing. It is more likely the tyres scrubbing as you move the vehicle.

Thanks for that, do you know what the 17" rims are from, possibly a Disco or Range Rover ?

These are not interchangeable with the Freelander as it has it's own bolt pitch diameter.

So, you have to use rims specifically made for the Freelander, and they again vary between the early and late models (about 2004)

One of the Facelift models, I think it was the "Sport", had 17" rims as standard.
I have 235X60 on the "S" model 16" rims.
