I've got standard alloys on my disco, is it safe enough to use the nuts from them on these new wheels I bought for? Or is it worth investing in a proper set of nuts for them? If so, which ones are they?!
I haven't stuck these on yet, was going to use them for off roading as they look like they'll be 'orrible on the road.

think you need steel wheel nuts for them dont ya?

Alloy wheel nuts have a shoulder that supports the wheel, steel wheels nets only have a chamfer that doesn't support and could indeed crush the alloys .. your choice ..

Steel nuts on left Alloy nuts on right. Different animals completely

I see, I've obviously got the alloy ones but is it OK to use these on the steels? They look really dodgy but seem to hold the wheel alright (I've got a steel as my spare now with aloy nuts on) Didn't know if the tapered shoulders on the alloy nuts would make them unsuitable....
Probably safer just to buy some! For £10, it's not worth risking....

to dangerous to use alloy nuts on steels can work there way loose dont do it!!!!!!!!

I must admit I assumed that may be the case - the ones holding my spare on really don't look right at all!

they'll be alright for a spare, but you might get a bit of movement-especially off road.Not safe for the hubs tho.
