Has anyone ever sprayed their rear wheels covers?

If so, got any advice? I'm thinking of doing it then possibly getting a sign done. I'd order a plain one brand new if I could but I spent all my money on fuel.

While I'm here, has anyone ever sprayed their alloys?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i did this one just with a tin of white and some stickers turnd out all right

Had the alloys on my MR2 professionally stripped and powder coated, came up well:D

Those covers look good. Have you had them out in the weather? I have a feeling that the paint will flake off. Did you have to sand them or anything?

Yeah I'd get them powder coated if i had the money. I was thinking of sanding them down and spraying them with a can. Mind me asking how much it cost?

I've painted several sets of alloy and steel wheels, and the best low cost long lasting finish has always come from plastikote enamel paint in a rattle can. I don't find any need to laquer or prime it either, just a good hour or so with each wheel and a fine grade wet and dry, then 4 or 6 thin coats of paint, depending on how patient you are. it dries within minutes and requires little prepping in between coats. About £6 a tin from b+q or the local hardware shop, and I tend to get through 2, possibly 3 tins for a set of wheels. my vw alloys I sprayed gloss black and when polished come up as smooth and shiny as the day they were painted, about 14-15 months ago. the key is in the prep. Done steel wheels too, but these are easier.

Wheel covers, same paint, as long as the cover isn't too flexible it'll last. had one on my jap wagon, semi floppy and it lasted a good while, but does need touching up or redoing every 6 months or so.

Thanks for all that, I'm going to give it a go on the next sunny day. I've done some PS mock ups, it looks tons better in black i think.

So i've not been on here for a million years but I actually sprayed them using cheap satin black paint from the local. Didn't lacquer them, they've lasted for ages. The only trouble i've had is on the plastic centre caps and only one has flacked a tiny bit.
