Getting ready to change both front wheel bearings on the td6 , if any one has done this as a diy job any warnings or advice would be much appreciated . Thanks
Did the passenger side today, was going to do drivers side aswell but trackrod end was seized solid and shattered my joint separator so had to leave it for another day, took the hub carrier off the passenger side and split it the removed the bearing racefrom the drive hub with a grinder and chisel, then took it to a local garage who pressed the bearing out of the hub carrier and reassembled it all for £30, refitted to car now and all back together.
Long day took about 8hours.
" Use separator as a aid and not as a it will come out or else wrench it up type tool" couldn't agree more, Used heat and hit it with hammers from various angles and even tried 2 hammers from both sides before I got the separator out and the tre just laughed at me , I'll have another go in a few weeks, had enough of cars at the minute after getting both daughters through their mot's aswell, and it's not the weather for it.
