I whipped mine off last night to give em a spray, anyway i've been pottering around today without them on, question is, is it legal?

I'm not in a rush to put them back on atm, but wouldn't want to get pulled for not having them fitted although i can't see the illegal side to not having them fitted.

if the wheels stick out past the wing with out the arch on yes it is as thats a mot fail

yes its illegal i have 35" tyres on 10j rims with standard arches. an because my wheels stuck out past the arch i was stopped buy the long arm of the law an given a section 59 an told to change the wheels or my landy will be seized. so i bought 2" extended arches :D no problems now an it passes its mot as well:D

If you do get stopped meantime, ask to report the theft of 4 arches whilst your motor was parked at the local shops. Your were just driving home and were going to report the theft from there coz you didn't want to leave the motor at the shop for fear of more parts being stolen.

I'll stick em back on to be safe, the theft Idea would work I guess if I didn't have them sat In the back...

Got a link to that in the MOT Testers Manual?

Think you will find it is a C&U rule. Meaning the MOT man won't give a ****, but the plod will.... Why is nothing in this country simple

"well f**k me officer, they must have broken inside too and then left the wheel arches behind while having a snoop around"

Yeh, ok, might be easier to stick um back on

true but if the tyres foul anypart of the bodywork it is,

Well I tested cars at my garage I would fail them as its my name above the door

If there's any tread showing outside the wheel arches i would fail it. Jay are you a tester?

Still haven't put them back on yet, MOT next week so they will be on for then. I assume the plod could give me a ticket though for it? Not sure what it is, been watching too many Road Wars and seeing the plod dishing out tickets for various bits on cars not being quite right.

It all depends whether or not they protrude from the bodywork mate. Why not post a pic? Would be easy to give you a yes/no answer then :)
