Case solved - shortlived:doh:

2000 miles after bleeding master cylinder on my TD4 , the clutch pedal has gone floppy again and now even harder to get into gear, minimal bite point if any at all!

As I think the slave has gone now!

So gone for the full clutch kit change now regardless.

Definitely a s**t design by land rover.

According to the Land rover garage, they reckon you shouldn't need to bleed the system when replacing new clutch parts as they come already bled and the pipelines are just plugged together creating the seal, and if you do bleed the clutch system, its only short lived as I've found out!

Chances are that if your slaves gone the fluid contaminates the clutch anyway.
I changed mine with a mate so all it cost me was the parts which came to £200 :)

That's what I thought, I thought I may have experienced a slipping clutch too because of that, but haven't.

Its in the garage at the minute, sort of overtime for someone, minus the VAT ;)

Its great when you can do these jobs yourself, I changed a mk3 golf clutch once myself and that was it for me, pay someone else with the right tools to do it! :D

No clutch didn't slip at all.. It was just as yours is, a nightmare to get in gear and low down. But now it's as it should be.
There was no way I would have done it myself
I just lifted a bit while my brother in law did all the important bits. As he's a mechanic. So yes lucky in that respect.

Just got mine back now and wow what a difference!!

New clutch kit, slave thrust bearing and hydraulic master cylinder.

The old parts were gone, signs of leakage from slave and clutch plate worn and master past it!

Probably the original parts from original manufacture back in 2001.

Just needs bedding in now
Best way is to take it offroad in some mud :p

TD4 probably going back to the garage who did the clutch.

1st and 2nd gears difficult to engage sometimes.

Also a hissing noise was audible from the engine front lower side, when I got the vehicle home after the work was done.

Sounds like air is leaking whilst the engine is running.

I noticed it straight away as it wasn't there before I took the vehicle in.

Anyone else experience this after a clutch change?

Could the mechanics have damaged something whilst dismantling the engine to get to the clutch?

Turns out it was the vacuum pipe that runs to the EGR valve, the end of the rubber pipe was not making a tight seal.

Cut end off, and reconnected - hissing noise now gone.

As for the gear change difficulty sometimes, I will live with it! :D

I've changed the clutch & Slave cylinder in my TD4 as my old man burnt it out towing, ball ache of a job that it was but i can't get the system to bleed now, the reservoir is full of fluid but it won't pull through, i don't want to keep pumping the pedal as i've heard it'll knacker the master cylinder.
I've got a one way valve on the bleed nipple and there is a tiny bit of fluid sitting in the pipe, please help.
