Parked next to a late model 90 HT today that had a great big bump in the middle of the bonnet! No air intakes, just a great big ruddy scquare bump.

What's that about?

int all the elctrickery up there?

No, ECU is still under the RH seat, it's just the top of the rocker cover.

Apparently Ford (who's engine it is) wouldn't let LR modify the engine to fit under the flat bonnet, hence the bulge.

you should look at a utility rover... a chap down the road from me works for the electricity board, and has a new 110 company car. they've made (or bought from scrapiron/rebel) a rivet on chequer plate cover so that they can stand on the bonnet to access the roofrack... how big is it! feckin HUGE!

Sumps too deep LR wanted to fit a shallower sump. As above Ford wouldn't go with it So they raised the engine up to make it fit.

And they cant fit vents on the bulkhead because of it niether. T'int a propper landy no more

apparently the sales people call the bonnet tumour a power bulge ( ooooo wow ),....both myself and the wife have mourned the loss of the flaps ( on the bulkhead that is lol ). went on an off road test drive of the new defender with every intention of hating the cack out of it but i must admit it is one hell of a tool in the mud. still prefer my 20 year old character filled extreme dogging wagon though
