Bloody hell Charlesy! That is a serious bit of kit

You can say that again!

I bought it surplus from Babcocks Disposals at Rosyth for about £1,000.
It's a V8 Perkins driving a HUGE generator. It had SIXTY GALLONS of white diesel in the tanks! That went in the Defender 90 tank. The Defender had a Sherpa diesel 2.5 NA engine in it.

The problem was bringing it the 50 miles or so home, over the Forth Road Bridge. It weighs well over three tons. I borrowed a NATO hitch and 4 long bolts, fitted that to the rear crossmember and went for it. Hooked it on, tied on the lights bar, engaged low range, and drove it home. No problem at all, just not very quickly!

It was separated from the trailer and taken away. The trailer went to the farm auctions sales and fetched £100. No wonder - it had three brand new tyres on it for a start.

So if anyone wants a HUGE Perkins V8 generator, let me know.

what price you looking at charlsy i might no a yard

The guy that bought it paid a total of about £1200.

The engine alone is worth nearly ten grand! What a monster Vee Eight!

This machine has run UNDER 100 hours since new. I am trying to remember if it was 50+ hours or 70+ hours last time I saw it. Whatever.

It is located about 25 miles north of Carlisle and due to a change of plans may not be required any more.

It is sitting on ground level and a 4-wheeler with a 3 ton HIAB could pick it up easily.
