TDV8SQUAD

Today I drove as normal but it seemed to vibrate from the rear when I accelerated in low gear but then ironed itself out the faster I got. Also this tapping noise started, like 2 bars being banged together, it happens in reverse also. When I sit idle and rev nothing, when I move forward it starts. It's coming from the rear from what I gather. The driveshaft was changed about 8 months ago so won't be that. Any suggestions. Is it the Diff? It's a 2009 3.6 TDV8 TIA 😊 I can't seem.to upload video, any help on how to do that? Click link. video. Noise

It's been no problem for 8 months though but suppose could have worked loose. Do you know how to attach a video, I can't seem to do it.
If something has been replaced, that is in my experience always the first suspect. Bolts may not have been tightened properly and so have worked loose, it would account for the sound and vibration.
I believe you have to load video to U Tube and then provide a link. Never done it so I don't really know.

Do you mean the propshaft or 1 of the drive shafts from the diff to the wheel?

They use a CV type joint on the props and drive shafts, ours was a little tapping noise when it was U.S.
There is also a center bearing on the rear prop.

Best thing is get it on a lift/axle stands/over a pit and give them all a dam good wiggle/twist.

I've just added a video.

It obviously sounds like rotating based part,
But sounds worse than mine did.
You need to look underneath and wiggle stuff. It could be a UJ and there is only 1 near the center support bearing on the rear propshaft, some stuff is difficult to see because of heat shields which can in themselves trap stuff that rubs on rotating parts.

I had a really bad squeal/screech once and thought it was the brakes/EPB but turned out to be something stuck behind a heatshield. So you may have picked something up off the road.

Get under it and have a look, its the only way to stop guessing.

A mate told me the other day that when he was at Agricultural collage they stuck a cable tie round the prop of a landy of a posh lad who`s dad owned a large farm and had been to Eaton and the guy spent thousands trying to fix this noise, they didnt have the balls to tell him after he had payed out trying to sort it :vb-biggrin:
