Due to being a first time landy owner, ive got to admit i know bugger all about them, but i'll learn and i am having a good time.At the minute ive got a series2 but i think its series 3 fronted (well its flat thru the front), thats v8 powered, mach5's, parabolic springs loads of odds and sods but i have to be a complete knob and ask what something does!!
The inside has been altered here and there and to the left of the drivers left leg, it has handbrake, high low lever and one other lever thingy. This lever/knob whatever can be pulled in and out and out the back of it are 3 small hoses. One goes to the inlet manifold and the other two go to a thingy on the side of the transfer (i think) box. Please put me out of my misery and queue up to laugh but what is it? What does it do? And how do i test if its working or not

Awaiting all sarcasm!!!

Apart from that i love the old tank so much i think im gonna buy a proper offroader landie, what you got!!

Not played with one for years - but sounds like a vacuum operated centre diff lock as found on earlyish Range Rovers?

is it a stage one ? or had a stage one front end / running gear fitted ? i think they had a vac operated center diff like the rangey .....i might be wrong tho ...

No i think its a series2a, but with series3 wings and the front panel makes it look like a defender from the front:(. Its a 68, but i must admit the chassis is in really really good nick

It can't be a series front end if it's flat gotta be a defender front end.

I dunno then, its defo a 68, its definately got the headlights in the wings, the front is about 15mm back from the wing fronts. its good fun what ever it is:D

Sounds like a Bitsa. Bitsa this Bitsa that? :D though if it's a 68 SWB I don't think they fitted the V8 in that far back so it's had a conversion done at sonme point.

This is a series 3

Yep bitsa everything by the looks of it, must be a defender front cos the front panel doesnt look anything like that. I presume it was bought forward in line to make room for the rad and elec fans. At least im piecing together what it all is, thanks for yr replies:)
