Bit puzzled as to why my Freelander ESX hasn't got items other ESX models have. Got mine back in June and presumed as it was pretty much a top of the range model that the front seats would be heated but they weren't and subsequent investigation has showed they dont even have the heating pads ready fitted, plus the cruise control switch is just a blank so it wasnt fitted as standard either.
Now looking at a similar aged model (51 reg) on ebay I see mine is missing front foglights so were these items extra expense options when new, were they just deleted on a whim during production, and aside from the metallic paint and 17" wheels what other items made this version differ from the ES and similar variants?
Incidently , further investigation of the ebay car shows a row of 4 small buttons just below and to the right of the steering wheel where I have a cubby hole above the glove box, what do they do?

I have a 52 plate td4 es,

Has:
Heated seats
metallic paint
17" alloys

Has not:
cruise control
heated front screen

The buttons to the right of the steering wheel as far as i know are driving and fog lights.
Certain items would have been optional extras

Never heard of an ESX model. HSE or ES are fairly top specs.

My 04MY TD4 HSE has heated seats, heated front and rear screens, Fuel Burning heater for cab, front and rear foglights, reverse sensors. Satnav/radio/6CD player, electric heated mirrors, air con.

There will be listed in the catalogue, what the standard is for each spec before optional extras.

In 2001 the ESX came out. It was a spec above the current highest spec at the time, the ES. Available on td4 and v6 models. ESX had heated front seats, 16inch alloys, CD auto changer, air con, passenger airbag, roof rails (and roof rack bars) and an electric sunroof. Think it also had the front bumper spots.

If you PM me your vin number and email address, then I’ll put it into microcat (LR dealer software for parts) and send you the spec they think it had when it was first built. It has most Freelanders.

My Freelander ES-X 51 plate has 17" wheels and electric folding & heated wing mirrors. It has leather seats but they're not heated.

The HSE is a top spec for newer FL1 models and shouldn't be confused with earlier models.

Be aware that it is entirely possible to purchase replacement stick on badges for not a lot of money at a LR Dealer

Has been known to happen with cars "repesented" as BMW M3 etc.

On the cruise control front, when I had a Freelander, one of the first, Cruise Control was only available on the automatic...
