Pikey? :bolt:
Try getting it done in Spain! I was charged about 280 euros just for the clutch! Having said that, the total price of the job was about 650 euros which had included them taking the transfer box and gearbox out, splitting them, finding the problem, waiting for about 7 days with my unmovable car stuck on their main hydraulic ramp (took about 7 of em to push it up there in the first place apparently!) whilst I obtained the gearboxes from Blighty, loaning me a Renault Grand espace during that time, all fitting, oil and taxes, so, mustn't grumble really! Still skint though!
Well I have. Admittedly it wasn't in a properly sorted garage environment but it actually took me longer than 6hrs.
Take front and back props off, remove the centre console, exhaust system, the slave cylinder pipework, the gearbox with tranny box then you are into the clutch area.
I wouldn't do it for less than £300 labour.
i was speakin to a disco 1 owner who sed its easier to remove rad, undo engine mounts and slide engine forward to do clutch.. instead of removin gearbox etc etc etc... is he talkin rubbish or does he know somethin nobody else has thought about???
my garage can do a clutch in under 2 hours atn £35 a hour but he is a ex raf landrover mechanic
