What should I look out for as first signs of HGF in V6. I have an airlock in the coolant at the moment and a suggested cure which I will try tomorrow. Anything else that starts to give a warning ? Jasper

the name 'freelander 'writed on yer car somewheres is a pretty good indicator of impending HGF unless there is an extra 'D' near by

Does it gurgle when the engine is warming up?

Mayo on the dipstick or in coolant, coolant bubbling after switch off.

Sniffer test for combustion gases in the coolant or block test for leakage of compression will confirm any hgf

seconded - absolutely spot on, NI.:D

Any one of those is symptomatic of HGF.
