dunt matter as long as it turns 90 degrees

i think you will find its 20nm then 90 deg. then a further 90 deg, working in a patern radiating from the centre two!

you dont need a torque wrench for 90 deg but you do need to put a paint(tippex) blob on top centre(12o'clock) and it should then be moved to 3'oclock and then 6 o'clock

thats the easiest method i know!

bit of a different subject here but thought id get a few quotes from local garages for doing the work, and one said something about the block might be gone because its pourous??? if so need a whole new engine? anyone know what they mean
cheers

Get it pressure tested before you commit to anything. Could be a liner slipping, could be a porous gasket, but you really wont know til you get it tested. They might just be trying to fleece you so they can fit a nice shiny engine.

the only true way to be sure is to remove the heads and see if any of the pistons look steam cleaned,if they are it,s a liner.don,t take a garages word for it as you might end up being fleeced, use someone who has a good rep if you can,t do it yourself.

hi, i phoned a local land rover specialist because a few garages said they would touch the head gasket on a range rover (why i dont know!) and they said the same thing about the lining and i should just get a new engine, does anyone know of anywhere in wilts, somerset who are trusted and i could get to do it, i really dont wanna fork out for a new engine. cheers
