I've had one of each - new 300, old knackered 200 and second-hand TD5. I LOVE the TD5: 'tis quieter, smoother, faster, and better on mud due to the Traction Control. It even leaks more. A lot more. And although it HAS gone wrong occasionally it seems pretty reliable for a Disco (oh no, now I'm cursed as well).

Haven't had any leaks in mine, except when I was wading a bit TOO deep last summer floods, but that came in under the doors, and was no surprises really !!
