Not a Defender, but as deep as most standard Defenders would go. Standard Disco 300 Tdi, no snorkel, 31" tyres .. ;)

Pretty close, I think, to flooding the engine both times, but fun anyway .. ;)

nah was just a cheap thing to mount some rear reversing lights to and a high lift. did save the cab a bit actually. stopped it going to far backwards. wasnt chassis mounted or anything tho. Gonna fit a propa one when i rebuild it :D

Have had to rescue a couple of squaddie mates who thought their 110 could follow the tanks, sucked water straight in to the engine.
Injectors out, air filter out, spin it over and throw it back together.
Was a little smokey for about 2 days but, changed all the oils once back into camp and its still running after around a year.

I know its not a Landy, but you've got to admire the effort.

Back was floating a wee bit. ended up at about a 40 degree angle. :p pushin it a tad! :D

At 24sec you can see the cross current take the landy and push it sideways. if it hadn't hit something and bounced off it would have been washed away.

Yer usually its only a foot deep!! and it gets a bit shallower that way and thers loads of rocks and a big submerged bank. usually its only 4foot wide! :D

I'm ex-mil and one of our driving courses involves 'waterproofing' a defender and driving it into the sea and onto a landing craft.

Remove the roof, stand up, foot on the accelerator... waves comes over the windscreen.

Fun times.

With a snorkle, you can go until you can only just breathe. That's fine but only in a lake etc. Never do that in a ford or you could be swept away. If you feel it go light, don't go any deeper through fast flowing water. :)

One guy at uni did this. Bought the landy, presumed the snorkel was sealed and went into a river:doh: I think he learnt his lesson though!:D
