Ive been weighing up taking the centre seat out of the front of my Defender to replace it with a cubby box, i just wondered what that plug under there is for?

Thanks

Has your vehicle got seat belt warning lights if so its to let your motor know someones arse is in the seat
if not i dont know

does it look like this??

if so its your OBD diagnostic socket, it lives in the centre, only found it out what I was looking round some fenders last week and one had it hanging out from under the cubby, Hmmm, good sign???

Yes thats the one, sorry could not get my own pic uploaded. Is it of any use?

I'm don't know much about the td5 I assume that's what you own? If so its important it's for a diagnostic device .

Mine had egr and an alarm but no plug under the seat n reg are you saying they fit them in different places n reg

IIRC late 300s had an ECU, its an OBD port, mar or may not be fully OBDII compliant, I dont know, I got my fender yet.
IF its poper obd2, a bluetooth donge for about £15 from fleabay and an app for a smart phone will give you all the diagnostic you need, if not (which I suspect) then it'll be a (decent) garage only read (or even main stealer)
