I'm not special I'm limited edition
Ever since I have had my 300tdi defender I have had a sloppy gear change. The other day I decided it's about time I sorted it out. I lifted the rubber gearstick gaiter expecting to see a broken spring or Bias plate.

How wrong can you be?

My gearstick Is held in place by a single screw and washer on top of the ball of the gearstick.

Does anybody know what I am missing so I can rectify it ASAP? It looks like some kind of plate with 3 holes should go there. I purchased part no.FRC7686 Which is a defender gear selector housing from fleabay but it isn't the part I need. Does anyone have an exploded diagram or piccy that may give me a clue.
cheers.

I don't know if this is the right diagram...

cheers madcowz.
It looks like the right diagram. I take it The ball selector is only held in by 3 screws with washers then. Mine has only one at the moment. I will try another 2 and see if that works.

hey ratty you haveing problems !!!

Hi Robin

Yes and no. I have several little niggles with my landy and thought I'd better sort em out. I got a bit worried when I found that there was bugger all holding my gearstick in place. Am happier now I know it's just a couple of screws loose.........well missing :D

Don't worry it aint dropped off yet and I am sure I can find a couple of screws by then.

Aye the whole mechanism is different.
