Hi All,

Just been under the Landy adjusting fan and pump belt when I noticed this threaded hole.

Not sure what should be in there, is it a drain plug or some sort of valve or what?

If oil is supposed to be in there, then there ain't any

That looks like the hole in the fly wheel housing you put the locking tool in to set the engine to TDC.
If you go wading you should put a wading plug in there and then take it out again immediately after you finish.

to allow any oil that gathers to leak out , and water will enter through seals in time so you remove them to ensure any that has gets out

The plug hole is at the front of the engine just behind the drive pulley.

Isn't the flywheel housing at therear of the engine?

I guess the cam belt is in there somewhere or am I lost

Sorry I'm feeling a bit of a numpty now

Thanks all, looks like I can rest easy then.

Leave it open as it is unless I go wading, great and thanks again.

I'd love to have seen your neighbours faces when they watched you climb under your Landy on yer back with a camara!! LOL HEE HEE

they'll get used to it
my neighbours ask what's wrong with me or my car if they havent seen me beneath it for a week, thats completely looney...

I wouldn't worry lol,

I found out, when i took my disco for a timing belt at a garage in Scunthorpe they found a wading plug in it, now it pre dates my ownership, and the previous owner (work mate) so it's been in there for over 4 years! Not surprisingly the housing was flooded with oil. Guess I'm lucky it didn't do some damage.
