Not another breaking thread, As per my other posts, my partner crashed the Disco, 1998 300tdi 145k no rust or rot, actually very good condition

Just replaced the swivel seals for mot and rear wheel bearings

Insurance have released the car back to me, I have broken several cars this year and always a pain when you get to the end, people wanting wheels first etc

Is the car worth anything as it will be cat c and need an inspection to get back on the road?

Forgot to mention, damage is drivers wing, front bumper and headlight, and bonnet

Fix it, get a vic check then sell it on. Just make sure to take pictures to show the repair had been done, and what was replaced.

Thanks for the advice, will sort it out and see what happens.

Anyone been through the getting Cat C on road saga, any other hints.

cat C - VIC check - piece of **** ;)

just finished replacing the front on a Mitsi Galant.

Suppose should take opportunity to maybe scale up to winch mount bumper and a few other goodies.

Anyone have rioja red bonnet, wing, and good front grill?

Can't she is still using my other RR now, need to get this back up and running to save the others

Just seen your posts and blog, think I got off lightly.

Oh well, another adventure.

Doesn't look that bad to me???

Wing £40
Bonnet £50
Headlamp £10
Sidelight £10
Hockey stick £10
Grille £20
Bumper £30
Wing to body brackets x 2 £15

Vic test £41.
MOT £40. (assuming there's no unexpected extra's!)

Back on the road for less than £300 IMHO.
If you have to spend money on paint back on the road for £600?

Thanks, just worries me as the current insurer won't insure Cat C's and from what I have heard they are worth less than those with out the stamp on the V5. If I can get the bits for you values, it will be worth it.

Well you're still insured to drive the thing 'til the policy expires (assuming it's been vic checked and MOT'd).
Insurance is a problem for next year, surely?

You'll get a payout from the insurance which will cover the cost of repairs and some change to do with what you like.

Like you say, now it's had a smash it's only worth buttons so you might just as well repair it and run it into the ground. If it were a Disco 4 then yes i'd take your point about residual values but it's a D1 which kinda puts it in a different perspective, eh? ;)

In any case, I should (belatedly!) add that I'm glad you all walked away from the crash unharmed! :)

which is worse, having to cut rot out or repair a few panels?
i would say yours is the best of both worlds, paint is the dear bit?
unless you can track some panels same colour off flebay,
s reg towards last of the 300's, a cheap fix
good luck

VIC check is just identity check not an inspection and as far as I'm aware your MOT is still valid
