A pal of mine has recently asked me to have a look at his sadly deceased father-in-law's Disco. We originally planned to pull it out of the barn (hence me getting involved) he used to store her, but managed to drop a battery on and she fired up a treat..

He's in 2 minds whether to keep it or not - there's some sentimental value there, and once he cleaned it up she's turned out quite presentable. His FIL was a truck mechanic, and he's obviously been working on it as sections of sill are cut out and red oxide up. Matey is a good practical chap, but welding etc would end up being subbed out anyone know any landy friendly welders who might take on this in midlands?

Any ideas on likely value once repaired? Anyone here interested in a project?

That amount of welding shown in the photo, would not be to expensive to do, and could be hidden with under seal on both side to blend in, but you did not post enough photos, you need to look underneath, and under the carpets at the back, to make sure it all the rust you have

Thanks for reply Frosty.... its not mine, although I was tempted, but too many projects already and not enough space!!

Mate who owns it would need to get it welded up professional, he'd refit and paint I guess, but my question really is what would it fetch when done - roughly. My advise to him was that if he doesn't REALLY want it, then it could be a ton of work for little reward. I really don't have a feel for what these go for, although I'm pretty sure a 3 door is the one to have.

I could also do with pointing him in the direction of a decent landy garage that can price it up properly for him - any recommends?

A couple more of the pics out of the pile he sent me - looks like it may have had a boot floor - I'll have a poke underneath next time I'm around. All of the interior is present - its a shame the old boy passed away before finishing.

I see the tail gates gone, so the price unfortunatly is on a down would spiral, when they are in that condition, its realy down to what some one will offer, as it looks like it needs a lot of TLC

Go to agree with this - I might up the offer to £300 - BUT would need more pictures..

And I would be interested too.

Thanks guys for the interest, I've sent matey a copy of this thread... I'll let you know if he decides to sell it up, and will pm you both his details if he does

If it is a 300tdi, then the engine alone is worth 500 quid, sadly shell aint worth much.
Take a look at 300tdi engines and parts on ebay.

for someone to get a 300tdi theres loads about if someone wants an engine.
Ive taken a deposit on my 3 door.:(
Now I'll need to put some effort in for next years LZ calendar :D

Yup selling it, I'll probably regret it but I need the space to build a garage its only taken 2 years to get it
through planning. I aint buying another Evo the misses hates the one ive got, she went to get in it last
week & banged her head off the roof cause of the bucket seats have very high sides.
Ive got 5 motors at the house somit needs to shift, plus ive still got my fender project stashed elsewhere :D
