Thanks:)

A head unit is a car stereo, most commonly with a CD player and Radio with FM and MW, but probably not LW. There are more fancy features that you can pay a fortune for but are probably not interested in.

Something to be aware of is that, whilst you can connect your speakers directly to the head unit, it will come with a fancy connector which you will either need to purchase an adaptor for or, like most people do, chop it off and connect the wires to the correct place (you could also connect spade connectors to the pins in the connector, if you wanted to avoid chopping it off).

You gotta have long wave! Come the nuclear armageddon it's the only thing you'll be able to listen to. 'course you'll need a series to put it in 'cos all them electric thingies on your posh cars won't work any more.

you want a sony mex-bt 3100, it will do everything you need

Is the inbuilt microphone on that Sony any good for calls or have you rigged in the external mic? Replacing my LR radio this weekend and the Sony is half price in halfords!

its good I've used it while driving with no issues, the mic socket is a standard one so you can add external mic easily anyway

all I've done is stuck it in, paired the Bluetooth and that's it, the manual is huge lol, but just looking at the specs I'm gonna read up how to make it talk txt messages

Bought one, and the extractor jobby, fitted it in Halfords car park, great radio, pairs with phone and get hands free calling. Very happy, thanks for the recommendation!

No sorry, just volume and tuning knobs and MW / LW switch and a tone button, on or off:)

Now that's what I call a proper radio, the one I have in my landy has more buttons on it than the space shuttle. Why do manufacturers have to make life so complex? All you need is what 'landowner' describes, simples!
