Is it good value for money regarding age/milage?
does lpg conversion mean it would get more mpg?

lpg - the fuel costs less, few garages have it, you wont use any less of it, probably a little more. Extra maintenence too.

LPG = 56p litre here. *Much* cheaper. Easy to find.
 
Nothing wrong with LPG....plan journeys accordingly and you will have no issues finding a garage that sells it...and even if you can't, you'll still have 90 litres of petrol to burn up too!!!!
 
Thanks for replys so far been really useful. Can't see LPG been a problem as many garages round here have it and if I go further a field will just have to plan a bit more as saint said.

Anybody else with any input?
 
You will get around 10-15% less mpg on LPG but still gives good savings. Multipoint sequential is advised. The Rover V8 copes very well with LPG.
 
I buy my LPG from our local agricultural suppliers or an LPG installer on a local trading estate. 10p litre cheaper than garage chains.
 
Thanks again guys. This next question may seem a bit obvious but please bear with me :)

When you fill up with lpg do you just go to petrol station and fill up as you would with a diesel or petrol Car?
 
Yup, - there's a twist to lock arrangement for the supply nozzle (sometimes with a screw-in adapter first) that's very straightforward, and after that it's just like a normal pump.
Sometimes you have to stand there like a lemon with a finger on a button.
The fill will just stop when it is done.
 
Never run LPG ,however as for the extra costs ....When i looked into having it done a few years back, I was told that the LPG unit needed a separate service .At the time may be 2-3 years back that was £200 a year.. It may be different now and or some may just not bother with that so long as it runs ok?? Don't know if this helps or ever if it was the right info.It was an ex land rover engineer that told me someone that does service my car and from what I hear quite a few on here??
 
my local lpg servicers do it for 45 quid plus an extra 18 if u need a filter, my disco runs fine and at 56p a litre it is cheaper to run than a 2.5 diesel

It's the same as petrol.

How often do you change your fuel filter? LPG filters are £5 each, mine needs 2, I do mine every year.

How often do you change your petrol injectors? Still on original petrol and LPG ones.

How often do you change petrol fuel lines? Still on original petrol and LPG ones.

£200 a year sounds like an awful lot to me.

I once stood next to Jonny Depp whilst we both filled up with LPG.

It was 2-3 years back and at the time £200 did seem high.However having watched a TV program that same year ( wheeler dealers) they wanted to do a LPG con... But left it as they to said a multi-point one would be £200 a year to service...The guy who told me was not trying to rip me off as he could not do that service...But over the years things come down ,the more there is??

Take it from your comment you have a range rover running on lpg yes? Would you be as kind to explain the pros and cons of having a lpg ran landy please.

Diesel is more reliable:)
 
Diesel is more reliable but like driving a tractor.
I knew nothing about LPG before getting mine & must say it's been faultless. Filter changes every year is all that mine has needed. I do weekly trips from Sheffield to London (320 miles) & can do this on a full tank costing £55 at the moment. There's a lot of misinformation about LPG much to the benefit of peeps who run on it.

You have obviously never driven a tractor. My P38 diesel engine is inaudible inside the car unless accelerating hard, with my tractor I needed ear defenders:rolleyes:
