In the spirit of the new year coming, thought I would take a chance and start a pointless new thread.
So, for me next year I am hoping, (unless something else breaks on it) to get ready for Betsy having a new paint job. That gives me 11 months to save up.
What are you gonna do..?
 
Bonnet strip & respray. And a couple of other bits but it's going to have to be a lot warmer!

Apart from routine servicing, hopefully nothing:D
 
Get a metal bumper and a winch! Ski plate and rip those daft rubber flappers off and get effing big dangly springs and frogs legs shocks to boot!!:D

Rear suspension bushes
VANOS Rattle
Chain Tensioner (got it just gotta fit it)
Service Fluids and Filters
Sort out the Steering Wheel adjustment issue
Tailgate rubber surround re-fitment

Freebie:
Get it through the MOT and sort what that throws at me
Roof Bars, Bull Bar and Spot Lights
Figure out where the diesel dribble is coming from!

I'd like to do that to Carey Mulligan....but thats a different story...(and potentially a different forum!!)

Refurb the wheels.
Replace the body mountings.
Get rid of the wiper scratches on front and rear screens.
Get it re-registered in the French system as a classic, CT (mot) every 5 years, cheaper insurance.
Nothing to do chassis/body wise, thats all good.
Hopefully just get to drive and enjoy her.

Good luck with re-registering it now the system is all on line, it could be difficult before when you could actually speak to a semi human being, now it can be impossible especially as the system has a back log.
 
Would just like to keep them all going:eek:
And IF they don’t break I am sure I can put my plan into action, need to see what the winter toll brings first:(

You can try at a local car dealer, they have a line/code that works sooner than doing it yourself.. as long as your french is good.;) a friend with a 2001 Hilux that was built for the coastguard went to Renault and they did it foc! :cool:

Bit of confusion caused by the way I worded my comment, I actually meant get my French registered RRC into the 30+ year old Classic registration system. Not able to do it before now as its date of first registration was 18/12/88.

As above sorry. Looking to register as a 30 year old. Different system.
My first car in France was a Disco we brought with us, had a go at the registration process but as my French was not good - not brilliant now either - and it was also dual fuel LPG, failed miserably. Had to take it to a specialist to have the LPG system checked out to comply with the Inspectorate of Mines regulations for explosive substances.
After doing all that a local garage got it through the registration process for me free of charge. I did buy the new number plates from them though.
