Can you weld? If not then be very careful with any disco that age. As others have said they can drive great and look brilliant but can be rotten underneath where it can cost 100 s to repair.

Not yet, I'm a gas fitter by trade though so I'm thinking of going to an evening class to learn some welding skills, can get some practice then can't I!!

I would be wary why he is selling it, chances are cost him a few quid to get through the MOT with patches over the rust he might know the next mot is going to cost him a lot of money so moving it on instead.

Prices down your way seem on the higher end, personally i would be keeping an eye on ebay should be able to pick up a bargain if you are happy to travel a bit and if it turns out to be a POS you can just walk away anyway.

He's a small trader, he said it did need some welding to get it through it's MOT yes. It's got virtually a 12 month ticket so I guess it's seeing what sort of job has been done and take it from there. I won't be shy and have a really bright LED torch, I'm also I'm no rush so if it's a crock il just leave it.
Yeah prices do seen a little inflated, guess it's the time of the year too.
