BTW, if you do use this to rebuild yours, DONT do what they did and put grease on the outside of the freespool clutch ring! It just needs some light on on the outer surface.

Unfortunatley I've already clocked that one. It's a really good vid, but they focus on the gears. Only removing the motor, not stripping it. Thanks for looking :)
- hows your xd9000i been? Did you need to do any mods when you swapped to synthetic?

Also do you have a link for that dealer paul, cheers

Amazon.com ...

Get the part number you need, all manuals and parts lists available on Warn site, type into the search box see what comes up is all I did!

Way cheaper by a massive amount than anything over here. Most places that say they have stock in UK mean they place an order when they have enough customer orders and get parts quickly. If your supplier does this you might wait a while, so I just browsed, trying to go direct .. but via Amazon was cheaper than direct to Warn distributors!.

This is what I bought, I dunno if it will fit yours .. it ended up, now I've checked, at £66 delivered, not £44 I said. I think the plate was 44 but the postage and customs made it up to £66 total!

Ideal! The states are on a completely different price scheme! I guess avoid heavier and more expensive stuff for postage and tax. I was out bid on the old xd9000i, managed to get a 9.5xp instead. Might look to get a new motor gasket and replace some of the bolts. Mainly for increased shinyness ;-)

Another question I can't find an answer for, is it legal to stick your reg on the bonnet? Not bother about police - more about mot failure

My Disco had it on the bonnet all the time I had it, and passed MOT's all that time.

The only thing the regs say is basically a number plate should have a legal font etc, be vertical and facing the front .. but it is open to different interpretations .. ;)

The end cap (your's is a finned one for cooling) should deffo come off - if you look back at my thread the motor housing should essentially be identical other than the fact your end cap has the heat sink over it/combined in. Once that's off the brush assembly should be sat on the end of the main motor casing, it's a doddle to hold the brushes out of the way to get them over the end of the windings.

Would've thought the end cap should just tap off with a suitable punch...

Sweet, that's just what I wanted to hear, hopefully they haven't used some sort of adhesive to hold the end cap in place!

My mot people have said id be pushing my luck if I attached a reg on the Bonnet, may have to ignore them, where did you get the sticker from?

Cap won't budge 😤 starting to loose faith in Google almighty, someone out there must of taken the end off a 9.5xp and taken a photo or even written a small comment!! Can think of several possibilities - corroded on just slides on ( but have knocked it about enough to over come that), it's threaded and corroded (no signs of twisting yet), some t@$t has stuck it on with adhesive.

Rant over, thank you for reading.

Just that, but bloody hell it needed tapping! Spent half the day dragging my apprentice around as he held onto the end cap 😁
In the end I had to hit it with a lump hammer to the point where I expected it to shatter.
Big thank you for your posts!
