I have already replaced the air springs all round on my RRC, and the rear shocks have been replaced by the previous owner with Monroe Adventurer shocks. I always thought Monroe were fairly good and the Adventurer models a good option for overlanding and offroad/greenlane use, but I've also heard they are a bit budget.

So, I have two questions:

1. Are the shock absorbers the same as those on coil sprung Range Rovers?

2. Should I get matching Monroe Adventurer shocks for the front, or replace all four with something else? Those Britpart Cellular Dynamic ones, perhaps?

1. No they are not the same as those fitted to coil sprung Classics.

2. And because of this your options are fairly limited. I have monroes fitted to my LSE and I find they ride a bit harsh but this could be down to my springs which have replaced the EAS and are firmer (not heavy duty) than a Classic that left the factory on springs. From memory Armstrong do a damper for EAS Classics, along with Bilsteins (harder than monroes) and if you look hard there are a few originals kicking around. I'm 99.9% certain there are no Cellular Dynamics available for Classics with EAS.

Cheers for your reply! What's the difference between the shocks for a coil sprung and an EAS Classic then? Are the mountings different or the shocks rated differently?

Looks like I may as well stick with Monroe and get matching Adventurer shocks for the front I guess!
 
On the Coil Sprung RRC, the shocks were mounted inside the coil spring, on the EAS model, the Shock was mount to the side of the Air Bladder.

Once again Mike, I am a step behind you with the upgrades. In this case I am after a 'comfort' shock absorber though as I am not planning on anything quite as adventurous as you and I am looking to get the job done this week.

Any suggestions would be welcome as would people's thoughts on the Polybushes.
 
So you thing Monroe are budget but Terrafirma the same thing.

I have Bilstein on my P38 since 5 years and very happy with those...
