If you aren't desperate to buy tyres now, hang on for next year when we get to congregate at Landy shows and look for either used or show specials. Last year i found a set of four barely used 7.50 x 16s on rims for £15 each at the 4x4 autojumble at Malvern

Great idea, I’m not far from the LR show at Peterborough, I will make it a date next year.

I am also thinking about tyres, I have and early 90. at the moment they have a bigger tyre on.
they look right for the 90. but would like one day to return to stock. I have the original rims. See pic.

i think 7.50 16 look right. i found a lovely set of as new Michelin XZL on Defender rims which were removed from one of the las 110 utility Defenders. Painted them with limestone paint and i love the look and perfromance

if you love the performance you must not have driven them in the wet yet! They are what I have fitted to my series and they fit the bill for a sereis vehicle and look the part, but can be interesting if taking things outside the comfort range of a series vehicle in the wet.

They are fine. If I want to go speeding about in the rain I choose another car

@adrian hogg
I have the same tyres was out in the snow a few years ago when a defender stopped in front of me on a slope to engage his difflock.
I needed a tow to get up the hill because tyres would not grip in the snow sufficient to get me moving from stopped.
