Well here's what I took off

and this is what I had to do to the drop arm to get it off!

This will be the new set up, note need a bracket for the damper plus the fact that it's a TRE that fits into the drop arm, so much easier to change if it fails.

The plan is to put a similar bar on the track rod and have a nice beefy set up - oh plus a steering guard.

Where did you buy the bracket from and is the steering damper the same as the original one as I've just put a new damper on mine. Really interested how it drives and the finished look before guard goes on mine. I'm going to do mine in the near future I think. Looks so much easier to replace tre.
 
The bracket came with the "Sumo Bars" and you can get them from Gwyn Lewis. The steering damper is a Boge o.e. part. The bracket has to go very near the end of the bar to be in the original position and get equal movement of the damper. All together and just waiting for a new lock washer and then I'll tighten (torque) everything up.
