Hi,

I have got a Disco 200Tdi and need to replace my tyres ASAP.

I Have just brought It and am on a budget so im looking at around £300GBP with 16 steel rims most possibly retreads. I would like to know what sizes you recommend and what is the largest size that I can fit without needing to do any mods to my disco?

don't buy budget tyres - they are a waste of money. Twice I've tried them and both times had to replace them pretty soon after - one went pear shaped and caused a vibration. The other time, the tyres (two on the front) made the car veer to one side - on replacing with proper tyres, the problem went away. If you ask me, it is always worth the extra money to buy decent tyres.
 
all depends dunit?
i use remoulds on the landy, cause it aint going fast nor far.
but i use the best i can afford, on my everyday focus.
 
Thanks for the help but i really need more help on what size I can fit or does anybody have a guide to help me.

the standard tyre is 205mm width, and its generally accepted that you can go up 20mm without changing the wheel/s.
 
January issue of LRO recommends that the largest tyre you can fit to a disco without modification is 235/70 R16

i've just bought a 3dr 300tdi and will be fitting this size very soon .
i had grabber AT2s on my 90 and have found some for about 85 a corner or 5 for £407 fitted on your doorstep (i'd prefer them on the wheel rims though!)

the AT2s look just like the BFG all terrain and handle pretty good too,
 
get 235/70x16's craddocks do coalway remoulds for 36 quid each, well within your budget and a good tyre ;)

What would happen if the Disco is left un-modified? :eek:

I have 235/70/16's maurauder maxxis on mine, far more road presence than th skinny 205's on it origionally, a little more road noise but who buy's a disco for the quite drive!!!!!!!!!! They where £65 each fitted and balanced, and that was at a central tyres centre. They seem ok on light off roading and havn't affected power steering i have slightly overfilled air to 36psi hope this helps. andy:)
