Just been for a spin in my mate's 2.5td P38 130k on the clock it's got k+n hiclones and a psi tuning box fitted my gawd what a machine :eek::eek:he said it cost 330 for the tuning box from foundry 4x4 anyone else got good or bad reports on these??? it was showing 28 mpg and he rekons he gets 35mpg on a run!! :doh:mine only does 19 nursing it:mad::mad::mad:

psi powerbox's are a great bit of kit, look on ebay as they do appear on there quite often, not to sure about your mates mpg though.a bit optimistic i think.;)

I recently acquired a secondhand psi powerbox off ebay and installed it and whow what a difference. More power on takeoff and kickdown overtaking is now a breeze.
As gemsdad says it's a great bit of kit and i would recommend getting one.

glad you like yours mate,i was amazed when i fitted mine, they might not keep up with a v8 but it will give it a run for it's money.:D:D;)

I have the PSI Power box, very happy with it. MPG brim to brim 24/25 around and about and up to 30MPG on the autoroute. Message centre over reads by about 4MPG on mine.

Tuning box's are good, new chip and remap is better. But with the box you can take it off and use on another vehicle. But contrary to popular belief don't for one second think you can use your power willy nilly AND get better mileage. It does not work that way. There maybe some refinement of the mapping which would give you slightly better fuel economy IF you drive like a nun. But extra power is gained by injecting more fuel. Simple as that.

Cheers guys psi power box it is then I dont drive fast anymore (I save that for my bike on a sunday ) but it nice to have the power if you need it 25mpg I can live with 19mpg I am afraid to start it!!! thanks again

I'd look at Diesel Bob's before you make your mind up, mine cost £280 and works like a charm!!! Like the other guy have said the mpg is only butter on the run but around town you end to use the extra power and thus a bit more fuel. I'd recommend one. ;)

Would a chip/remap give me 0-60 in less than 5 secs. and 30mpg around town with my 4.6 V8????

Tell your mate to take out the Hiclones.
They don't work on these engines and in fact constrict airflow at high revs.

I'm speaking from experience having had them in my old 200tdi in which I undertook extensive road testing to check the effectiveness (which they were at low revs but not at high revs). They get fairly short shrift from people on here but they do have their uses on older tech engines. Would actually be very good in one of those Perkin engines mooted here on occasion for RRC conversions,
The BMW engine though is waaaay out of their league and they're only messing up the airflow for what was the pinnacle of indirect injection diesel car engine design.

Well i picked up my range rover today, got it home and had a proper look under the bonnet and noticed in the n/s corner there is a blue box which plugs into the loom. So am i right in thinking i have one already??
