On changing batteries in my spare key fob the little strip that sits under then up the side to complete the circuit decided to break in two. Any recommendations for what to use to make a new one

All help greatly appreciated

The easiest way is to get a new FOB case off the bay of E. Finding a bit of spring brass strip of the right dimensions is not going to be easy.

Could you cut a piece of baked bean can to fit? It'd be curved so would have some spring?

Can you post a photo of the broken bit? I may have a spare you can have.
Its the little bit that fits in the battery holder. What the + goes down onto and then comes up the side and when you turn the holder into place engages the tang that makes the circuit

You have to be careful, a lot of the holders don't come with the metal strip in. Have found one which is just selling the holder with strip but at ยฃ14 the Yorkshire man in me begrudges paying that.
I have some thin sheeting about the same thickness so going to have a go at making one first. If it works great if not will have to bight the bullet and spend.o_O:)

On mine it was the little pick up on the board that was missing i bend up a bit of steel from an old battery pick up of a toy and its been going 16 years now, good job too as its the only key after the wife lost the main one โ˜น๏ธ

I'll have a look today, I'm sure to have one in the FOB's from my scrapper.

๐ŸงCouldn't you get,๐Ÿค” a yard square of the metal sheet of thickness required off the local scrap metal merchant๐Ÿค”. Then hone down the sheet to the required size๐Ÿค”
Next bin the honed shavings๐Ÿคจ for the scrap metal merchant to weigh and buy back๐Ÿง
Hopefully your good lady offering kind words and reassuring mopping of the brow, when you are strapped to the gurney for the local asylum ๐Ÿคช

@Rubberknees Right from the photo, which bit do you need, #1; #2 or #3?

Items #2 & #3 have to be soldered into the PCB.
PM me with and address, I will be able to post on Tuesday when there will be a post office open and I have to take my MR2 for it's MOT.
