Its like any model I guess... once they become scarce, they are worth more. My old man had a 2 door Mk1 escort. They are more expensive than I could ever imagine now...

D1s are starting the rise as many have been raided for engines.
D2s are currently bottomed out, but as they rust out and then also become engine donors they will start to rise.

D2 on galvanised chassis would be a long term keeper.

I bought a D2 as i have 3 kids and it has 3, 3 point rear belts, plus 7 seats. Plus the D3 is just plain ugly next to a D2.
Its really not too bad to repair D2 chassis compared to a D1 body.
You cant beat a tdi though. Unless you are driving a tuned td5, then you will easily beat a tdi.

Demand vs. Supply... prices go up...
When I returned back to England three years ago in my local Suffolk area, I would find an average of 9 to 11 Discovery 2/s in a scrap/recycle yard for me to scavenge parts from. Today I'm finding 3 to 4 scrap Discovery 2/s (it is worse that this in the states!) and I know Disco 2/s aren't staying on the road longer now. lol
Disco 2s are harder to find now. Word is getting out how bad @ss these Land Rovers are.
