...i don't know whats the best, but i bought the Faultmate software for mine and it does everthing....from checking to resetting adaptive values along with realtime feeds and info...
I don't know if the other readers do this, but i'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell us...

I did not need to buy the server unit as my brother already had it so we just send it to each other when required and use our own laptops, allthough you can use just the unit itself.

Cheers.

I have a Nanocom Original and have had no problems with it. They aren't available new anymore so are hard to come by. They can be used as an onboard instrument aswell as a diagnostic computer.

The new Nanocom evo 'alledgedly' has a software glitch on the ABS system at the moment. Following a couple of threads on here about customer support plus the ABS issue etc I am having second thoughts about investing in an evo in addition to the original. Do a search for more info on the problems. The threads are pretty recent.

Hawkeye seems to get the thumbs up from a lot of people on here. I think the one gripe is that you need to pay to unlock extra vehicles.

I can't comment on the faultmate as I've had no dealings with it.

All of these is good, depends on what u want.....nanocom and faultmate are PC based(working individually too but quite inelegant this way)...hawkeye is pure handheld and very easy to use(for the time being not calibrating height...will do it after april as they say)

....the faultmate comes with a one vehicle license, and as the others you have to pay for a multiuser or add different vehicles as you need to.....not heard of any probs with it and haven't had any....

i am currently looking to buy a Hawkeye . i was going for the nanocom evo but the evo has to many glitches and complaints and also you have to buy the unlocking codes now for use with diffrent models.

With Hawkeye you buy the unit with one unlock code. This unlock code unlocks LR vehicles by series. For example I bought the D2 unlock code - this means I can work on any number of D2 vehicles with no VIN number lockout.

All variants of engine, gearbox and specification are catered for, so long as it D2.

Eventually I suppose I will move onto D3 and then I will buy a D3 unlock code so I will be able to work on D2 and D3.

I find it a very simple device to use and soon the V5 upgrade will be available to permit it to do more stuff.

Mentioning the V5 upgrade....

How many folks have the cable necessary to plug it into the pc to upgrade? I know I don't and it is a fairly expensive cable too.

How about a group buy / shared cable so we can all get our Hawkeyes 'done' when the upgrades roll around?

Paddocks do the cable for £15+vat and the power supply (required) for the same price.

Bearmach will do the update for free if you send your machine back to them.
