Hi there, took my headlining down today and found this:

It is where the areial goes through the roof, but is this stupid big pie dish really nessasary!? Does it insulate the areial from the roof?? It vibrates and taps the roof like hell!
Cheers

That stops aliens reading your mind, comes as standard on a Landy except i removed mine and put up with the voices in my head....

Rip it orf!

It's the radio areial.. Those bloody aliens!! I have bent it don't doesnt rattle! It is abit odd, it looks like the foil from round the bottom of a big pie! Cut downwards and fanned out!? It doesnt rattle now so il leave it I think! Looks rather rusty tho!

Haha, I believe in Wigan they eat their pies in muffins!? My areial works off pie power! Nice to kno!

signal booster... can work if done correctly, I have a parabolic sheet of tin foil around my wifi antennae and get a big range boost.

I'm guessing the pie tin is made of steel... Doesnt it "ground" the aerial making it work properly, as the roof is made of aluminium... Thats my guess!

Some antennas (not all - it depends on the design) need ground planes to work properly - and sheet aluminium on a land rover roof doesn't do the job - so would suggest whoever was installing the antenna did know what they were doing and installed a ground plane. Without it the radio range/performance will be compromised.
