I am planning to buy a series 2 land rover and am a bit confused about the different models (2, 2a...) Could you please help me clear up this shady area so i can narrow down my choices?

i think series 2 was 1958-61 and 2a was 1961-72. may be slightly out though!

I know that on a series 3 to heat the cabin there are 2 flaps that open low down on the centre console, but how do you heat a series 2 cabin? Also, what is the fan to the left of the base of the gear stick? Thanks
