Other than abvious service parts. What would you guys recommend changing for peace of mind?

And what parts need a good checking over?

Cheers John

Oops sorry I may have just bought a 4.0 v8 auto fresh MoT. Going to be my daily so want to prevent any misshaps heard a few things about the eas with rear bags leaking so other than that any p38 points to look out for?

Change the oil and the filters, dont trust that someone had already done it, see what RF (remote pick up) you have so you done get a lock out when you go to the supermarket

Especially the gear box filter and a new dryer for the eas cheapest way to prevent the air system getting blocked when the the insides turn to dust check air bags other than that the usual stuff check props for play don't want any mishaps in that department .

Have fun

I'd satisfy yourself that the cooling system is fully functional (no leaks, coolant loss, steady engine temp, etc). These V8s don't react we'll to overheating.

If your suspension isn't dropping overnight your airbags are probably ok.

Any advisories on the MOT? Brake fluid need doing?

Good luck with the car. :)

Cooling system first. Almost anything else that goes wrong won't stop you or cost you a fortune.

Any help you need there's me in Bristol and Taximan in Weston. I've got a Nanocom and Taximan stuck the GEMS pack on it so it'll talk to yours. Taximan has brought a '96 back from the grave, he's currently got the dash out - for the second time!

Replace all 4 airbags if they have not been don as they will be beyond their life expectancy. Check the viscous fan operates correctly. Grease the prop UJ's and check the oil in the diffs.

If you deicide to do the brake fluid... dont DIY it, it's actually cheaper to get a garage to do it (I went to vauxhall dealership) and they put a dot 5 in (fully synthetic)

I hope you mean DOT 5.1. DOT 5 is silicone and should not be used in a Range Rover under any circumstances.

Why can't people just use fluids to the recommended specs. They are specified for a reason.

In most cases I'd agree but brake fluid improves and is generally 100% backward compatible (except DOT 5). Synthetic DOT 5.1 (there are mineral versions) is advantageous mainly from the angle that it is not corrosive to paintwork (or bodywork) so is a boon for classic car owners. I run synthetic DOT 5.1 (often called super DOT 4 to avoid confusion with DOT 5) in all my vehicles.
