I've got a galv roof rack for my 90 and am going to paint it black, I was thinking Hammerite, anyone used anything else that has produced a good finish and durability? Clean it down and straight on with the black or prep it with something first??

galv a nightmare mate make sure you prime it first with a suitable primer.bright galv needs to be treated with mordant solution or t wash then primed.weathered galv you can prime then paint.

I think Hammerite do a paint especially for galvanised finishes. Anyone tried it?

NOPE but I've used their special metals primer. for galvy..

dulux do a water based primer for bright and old galv expensivetho and only 5ltr size tins.zinseer also have a range of primers bullseye 1 2 3 goes on galv i think, about 16 quid a litre!
