Hi Guys,

I bought a disco 4 for work but it comes with Pirelli Scorpion's which are useless off road.

B F Goodrich make 275 65 20 AT/KO in the USA but no one will ship them & the uk dealers can't get them.

I've seen some Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 305 55 20 & Cooper Discoverer STT 33 12.5 20, both look ideal for my kind of use. These are quite a lot wider than the 255 55 20 factory fitted. Does anyone know if these will fit the Disco 4 ok? will I need a wheel space or will they just not fit.

The smallest wheels I can fit on the LR4 are 19" but they seem to be just as restricted for off road tyres, plus i don't want to drop a size when i've got a smart set of wheels.

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Gaz

when you say "offroad" are we talking laneing or p+p?

a standard d4 with standard wheels tyres will be more than adequate laneing if you want to take it to a pay and play site then....
1)no the tyres wont be up to the job
2)you have more money than sense

Hi,

I use my disco for work, I'm a Civil Engineer working on remote wind farm construction sites but want to use it for p&p & going over to Morocco later this year as well.
Some of the sites I work on are mud baths before the tracks are installed so I need to up rate the tyres.

I can get BFG AT from the US, got a quote for shipping today for $2100, its too expensive to pay for shipping. I wouldn't mind a few hundred but not thousand!

Do you know if 305 / 55/ 20 will fit on the disco without any mods? No one seems to know.

Cheers

i think your current size of rim is hindering your size of tyre,im sure they look very nice but you may have to downsize your alloy size if you want a decent tyre thats readily available in the uk

Ahhhhh the devil incarnate has come amongst us that seeks to destroy the byways of nant-y-moch with tracks for wind power installations.

Be off with thee back to thy cavern of eviltude. :violent:

The smallest I can drop to is 19", the new 2012 Disco has larger discs & callipers. I've found some 60mm wheel spacers, 30mm per side, i'll get the tape out tomorrow & check the dimms.

Funkykipper, like your style!!
