Well I cant complain about acceleration..it skips thru the gears up to 60-65mph no prob..mind you denmark is as flat as your neck of the woods..and the engine is sweet..actually can hold a conversation as opposed to shouting when i had the N/A..

I'm going to do a few checks of the turbo and pipes as soon as the metal monkeys stop falling out of the trees!

You can still have a loud conversation but im going to be on the hunt for some carpet offcuts soonish to help quieten it down a bit

I never had the Disco T box on before..i did the 200tdi conversion from a N/A and threw a new fender gb on at same time...tbh i'd like to hear from anyone with the fender gb and t-box as a comparison...i get 25-28mpg and top speed of 70mph..i'm sure it ought to have another 10mph in it but 70's the limit...i keep it to 60mph most of the time. I'm not bothered about top end, its a tractor, but i'm slightly disapointed with the mpg, its the same as the N/A.

when we were doing Staffs to here on a regular basis in the 110 we were getting about 34-36 with a 200 engine outta a disco that i'd completely rebuilt about 10k ago (so wasn't even run in yet) and a disco box, plodded along @ 55 ish - often with way to much in the back and triple glazed doors on the roof

3/4 tank of SVO brimmed with unleaded - MT tyres with plenty of air in

Cheers Sean...I really need to look at this again, i do a straight 50 mile run, 60-65mph all the way apart from 1 mile at start and finish..my mpg is low compared to a lot of other folks that have posted.

that additional 10 MPH you do will be making a bit difference

I'll try a couple of days next week keeping it down to 55mph, brim the tank and run it 200 miles...see what i get...even i can do the math on that!

I'll be running in 4th gear probably though as 5th really struggles at that speed..

Yep. Its got no poke at all in 5th unless you hit 60 in 4th. Then it'll give me maybe 5mph extra or just hold constant 60...

I can hear it...but its not whistling as much as i expected. Oh, and in 5th i cant hear it.

check the hoses are all tight and in good condition, especially the ickle short black wastegate one on the turbo - they are prone to crack

Yep, thats been my thoughts since the conversion, i need to get under the thing and tighten it all up..hope that solves it..just bloody rented the house and workshop out so i'll have to rent some garage space for a day.

poor MPG isn't the end of the world really, if it starts stops and doesn't have a Freelander badge on it all will be well with the world

My 90 has a 200tdi, LT77 box, and I believe it's the original transfer box. 235/85 tyres. Most I ever had out of it was 77mph on the GPS, but that was on the way back from getting biodiesel - about 1/3 petro diesel, 2/3 bio. I stopped using bio because I felt it was a little underpowered, and the mileage was lower by maybe 3-4mpg (and it was costing me 2 gallons to go and get it).

Regarding power/torque, mine will bimble along a flat road in 5th at 30mph, but 4th is more tractable in traffic. If I'm aiming to get to a faster cruising speed, I change up from 4th at 35 or so. Very rarely do I do more than 40 in 4th - serious overtakes is about the only time I do that. Can chug along in 4th from a bit under 25mph. Plenty of torque from 30 in 4th and 40 in 5th - turbo will whistle a bit if I put the foot down a little at those speeds, so I tend to try and feather the throttle to keep the turbo quiet. Over 40, it's pretty-much turbo whistle all the way.

In the good weather, I was getting 30-31mpg, but more like 27-28 in winter. Tend to keep to about 55 on the motorway, 45-50 on A roads.
