Ive got an R reg P38 4.6, its got an lpg conversion ( not sure which ) with a 75 Litre tank, most i can squeeze in is 55 litres of gas

the dash computer says im getting between 10 & 20 mpg depending on the type of driving,

overall im getting 70 - 100 miles from a full tank

Does this sound right?
or
is there something wrong

if you have a separate ecu for your lpg then the computer will not regerster mpg when on gas! but saying that i get around 220 miles from a 60 liter tank of lpg normal driving.

Hi,

I have 95L tank hold 75L of Gas i get about 260 miles per tank about 16 MPG doing some ruff maths it looks like you are getting 8mpg or less I think you may have problem unless you are doing 100 miles at speed :)

Hope this helps

Hi
I have a 4.6 with a 95 ltr tank, i get 150 miles around town but over 220 if i am constantly on the motorway. I have just worked out your mpg and to my reconing 55ltr of gas for 100 miles works out to 7.75mpg. Maybe its time for a service on the gas system.

I've got the Prins+ system on mine, it holds around 75ltr and I generally don't see under 200miles return on it. I take it you have a multi-point sys on yours.

it came with the car & i think its a single point (not the ideal i know)

its made by stefanelli

am looking to get serviced asap

& then ill see

mine is a Tartarini "etgas" system (i think as was on it when i got it) its multi point injection with 80 litre tank, they all only fill to 80% so i get 60 litres! this takes me 190 miles if im good with throttle! £33 for 190 miles, in a r/rover, great!

Right just had the LPG fully serviced & new filters etc fitted.

I just worked out the mpg and 70 miles out of a 55 litre tank - i make it a dreadful 4.545 MPG !!!!!!!!!

If this service has not improved my MPG any one got any other ideas???

any one know how much it'll cost me to upgrade to a multi point system (currently a stefanelli single point )

hi mate not sure where abouts you are but speak to these guys Tinley Tech LPG Conversions - LPG conversion kits, LPG advice, LPG parts i got an under bonnet kit to convert mine to multipoint ( you wont need a tank or pipework as its already there ) i bought it from these people it cost approx £850.00 that included software and leads to enable you to set it up with a laptop .
i cant praise these guys enough very very helpfull , i hope this helps .

I had my converted 3 years ago with a 90litre doghnut tank which holds 75 litres due to the expansion. I drive it it to Canary Wharf and back on one tank. Even went o Bradford and back on one tank but did have the cruise control set to 65mph

Will changing to a multi point system increase the fuel economy that much?

I was advised to upgrade ignition by getting a spark amp, open up plugs to 0.8 - 0.9, new copper coiled HT leads, new distributor cap and rotor arm. I'm then going to have an lpg service, check the mixture and then start looking at other options once I've done a few long runs and seen if this improves things.

One guy told me that a single point system would be crap and back fire all the time but it's fine and has had this system for 5 years, just need regular lpg servicing.

have you tried to tune the system.find the screw type fiting which will be in the output pipe comeing from the vaporiser .keep the car at about 3000 revs and screw in fitting till engine starts to die and then backoff when engine picks up again stop this may be open to far wasteing gas does it back fire when driveing

Good plan - Have found the valve will give it a go. Gotta be worth a try

but me thinks bigger problems to be getting such low mpg but hey ho

98 litres = 250 miles = WOW
me 55 litres = 75 miles= skint :-(

i have a 130 litre tank and get 250 miles to 98 litres....... love it to bits

That's only 10mpg ish though on LPG, which equates to about 22mpg on petrol... You could see 22mpg running it on jungle juice anyway, so where's the advantage?

Unless you have heavy right foot syndrome.

Our 98R 4.6 with SPI system returns 18mpg on a run on gas, which equates to nearly 40mpg on petrol.
