What have people used to protect and lubricate the internals of their xyz switch? I want to prevent the contacts oxidising and generally repel moisture.
Vaseline thinly applied?
Ive cleaned it all up with isopropyl alcohol.
Cheers

dielectric grease.
Dielectric grease acts like an isolator so putting that inside a switch is a bad ideea, it's ONLY for external use to proctect contacts from water ingress but directly applied on contacts it reduces conductivity, so btter wait for more replies before you decide as i'll tell you something completely different:.... if you want the best to improve contacts within the XYZ swtch buy this stuff: http://www.nanoroad.co.uk/auto-coatings/4-nano-protech-electric.html... read it's full decription, it's true and verified by me, not cheap but worths it's weight in gold IMO, it restored 3 XYZ switches untill now just by soaking them with it. i treated all the exposed connectors in th engine bay and under the dash and both fuseboxes in my car with it and after that the engine became smoother and like more powerfull just like that... believe me or not

read about dielectric grease a bit http://www.tech-faq.com/dielectric-grease.html or just belive me

i have no shares in this product, i'm jut sharing my own experience... i've been using it since the beginning when i dicovered it on the market(2009), long time before it started to be seriously advertised in the USA(2013)

Thanks both. Ferry i will give this a go as there is plenty of electrics exposed to water in a D2, whether by LR design or not : )
Cheers

I just clean it from time to time with contact cleaner.
Yes this would be ideal but i want something in there to make it last as long as possible both from water damage and arcing. There is a mod to reduce the arcing by doing something with the reverse switch. But something like the product ferry suggested should help that anyway.

Hi Guys - resurrecting the thread...does anyone have a supplier for the Nanoprotech stuff? having trouble locating it in the UK

Thanks

I couldn’t get it so used Servisol. It worked for a bit then i got some funny business back. In the end i had 2 switches and swapped them out every time it went on the fritz, then serviced the other one. Burnt contacts every time. Led reverse bulbs slightly helped.
i heard oil rendered from the liver of a unicorn is the best solution
