soft and furry
Now for any woman to put up with anyone involved in Landys makes her a special woman. So when I met my mrs (found her in a bar ) I took her home in a series one soft top in the middle of winter, I didn't expect to see her again. But despite the complaints at the lack of refinements, she married into a family where Land Rovers (and lorries) were dominant.
For the first ten years or so she was used to landy doors, wings, engine bits, axles etc lying about the house. It was about this time I had my series 3 (in bits), she was out for the day and I wanted to spray up some body panels. Too cold outside and the room with the most room was the bedroom. Very carefully I placed newspaper over the bed and floor ready to spray the panels, I thought I did well.
I ran the airline up the stairs, layed the wing sections, doors and assorted bodybits on the bed and on the floor and sprayed the lot. Nice job I thought. Didnt take long to dry so just a case of removing said panels and clearing up the newspaper.
Mrs came home, commented on all the nicely painted panels lined up in the hallway. Then went upstairs
What happened next was not suitable for a gentlemans ears, I never knew so many Land Rover parts began with 'F'. I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, anyway that night the mrs slept downstairs.
It wasn't til I awoke in the morning that I noticed that everything had a bluey tinge to it, the dressing table, the carpet (apart from the defined shape of series 3 doors), the curtains were blue, the ceiling was blue, even the lampshade was blue, the wardrobe was blue including the clothes in it where the door was slightly open.
All that happened around 30 years ago and she still reminds me about it from time to time. Nowadays its strictly no Landy parts in the house. I did suggest making a double bed out of a S2 chassis a few years later, but I'd seen that look before so dropped the idea.
Anyone else suffered such injustices from the mrs?
